How much does a restaurant website cost?
A restaurant website costs anything from a monthly builder subscription you set up yourself to a one-off custom build. Builders start from a few hundred dollars a year, restaurant platforms charge a monthly fee that often includes online ordering, and custom builds are a one-off project; ours start from $5,000. The real cost depends on ordering, reservations and upkeep.
- Website builders cost a monthly or yearly subscription, for example Squarespace from $19 a month billed annually; you do the setup yourself.
- Restaurant platforms bundle a website with online ordering and marketing, for example Owner.com at $249 a month plus 5% per order, or $499 a month flat.
- A custom website is a one-off build. Ours start from $5,000, or $7,500 with a booking system, with a fixed written quote first.
- Compare options over 3 years, not month one: subscriptions add up, and a custom build carries hosting and optional maintenance.
- Check who owns the site, domain and customer data before you sign anything.
How much does a restaurant website cost in 2026?
There are three ways to get a restaurant website, and each is priced differently. A website builder is a subscription you set up yourself. A restaurant platform is a subscription that bundles the website with online ordering, apps and marketing. A custom website is built for your restaurant as a one-off project, like the ones we build on our restaurant website design page.
| Option | What you pay | Who builds and updates it | Online ordering |
|---|---|---|---|
| Website builder (Squarespace, Wix) | From $17–$19 a month billed annually; higher plans up to $99–$159 a month | You | Depends on the plan and add-ons |
| Restaurant platform (example: Owner.com) | $249 a month + 5% per order, or $499 a month flat | The platform, with your input | Included |
| Custom website (our starting prices) | From $5,000 one-off; $7,500 with a booking system | We build it; you update the menu yourself, or we do it on a maintenance plan | Built to suit, or linked to your ordering provider |
These are approximate figures based on published pricing and industry reports at the time of writing. Your actual cost depends on your scope and will be confirmed after a free discovery call with us.
The cheapest option in month one is rarely the cheapest over three years, and the options don't include the same things. The rest of this guide breaks each one down, then compares them side by side. What do website builders cost for a restaurant?
Builders such as Squarespace and Wix charge a subscription. Squarespace's US plans are $19, $29, $49 and $99 a month when billed annually, and $25 to $139 a month when billed monthly. Wix's US premium plans are $17, $29, $39 and $159 a month billed annually. Prices differ by country and change over time, so check the current price where you are.
What the subscription doesn't cover is the work: writing the menu as a proper web page (not a PDF), taking photos, connecting a reservation platform, and keeping hours and specials up to date. For a restaurant, those tasks are most of the job. Our restaurant website checklist lists what the finished site needs, so you can judge how much of it a builder plan covers.
A builder suits a new restaurant that needs a simple menu, hours and location page quickly and has someone with time to maintain it. Our comparison of Squarespace vs Wix vs a custom restaurant website sets out the trade-offs.
What do restaurant website platforms cost?
Restaurant platforms combine a website with online ordering, and often an app, loyalty and email or SMS marketing. As an example, Owner.com lists two plans: $249 a month plus a 5% per-order fee, or $499 a month with no per-order fee, and says the flat plan suits restaurants doing $5k or more a month in online sales. Both plans include the website, online ordering, a branded app, loyalty and marketing tools.
Other platforms price differently: some publish prices, others only quote after a demo. When you compare them, ask three questions:
- Is there a per-order fee as well as the monthly fee, and who pays it: you or the diner?
- Is card processing included, or charged on top?
- If you cancel, do you keep the website, the domain and your customer list?
A platform can make sense if online ordering is a large part of your business. If most orders arrive through delivery apps, compare the commission you pay there first: our guide to DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub commission works through one order on each, with versions for the UK, Canada and Australia, and our guide to reducing delivery app commissions covers moving regulars to your own ordering.
What does a custom restaurant website cost?
A custom website is designed and built for your restaurant as a one-off project. Our published starting prices are $5,000 (about £4,000 / €4,500) for a Custom Business Website and $7,500 (about £6,000 / €6,500) for a Website + Booking System. More complex work, such as several locations, dashboards or integrations, starts from $10,000 as a Custom Digital System. You can see what each package includes on our website pricing page.
How a custom project is priced and paid with us:
- A free discovery call, then a fixed written quote before any work starts.
- An advance deposit, then payments by milestone, never the full amount upfront. Quotes and invoices are in USD, paid by Wise or PayPal.
- Typically around 2 months, depending on scope, confirmed after the discovery call.
- 2 rounds of revisions and 2 months of free support after launch are included.
- You own the website, code, domain and content once paid.
What does a finished restaurant website look like?
See it in action. Here's a demo restaurant website we built to show what's possible: Maison Noir. It's a demo, not a client project. It includes:
- signature dishes and a monthly menu written as a real web page (starters, pasta, mains, desserts and drinks), not a PDF;
- a "Book your table" form with date, time and party size;
- a private-dining section for a back room that seats twelve;
- a "Finding us" section, and a WhatsApp button for guests who'd rather ask a question first.
As shown, with a table-request form, a site like this corresponds to our Custom Business Website (from $5,000). Connect it to a booking system that checks live availability and it becomes a Website + Booking System (from $7,500). Your exact price is confirmed after the discovery call.
Which option costs least over 3 years?
Month-one prices hide the real difference. This worked example adds up 36 months of each option at the published prices. It leaves out things every option needs (your domain, photos and your own time) so the comparison stays fair.
| Option | Year 1 | 3 years | Includes online ordering? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Squarespace Core ($29/month, annual) | $348 | $1,044 | Plan-dependent |
| Wix Business ($39/month, annual) | $468 | $1,404 | Plan-dependent |
| Owner.com flat plan ($499/month) | $5,988 | $17,964 | Yes |
| Owner.com flexible plan ($249/month + 5% of orders) | $2,988 + 5% of online orders | $8,964 + 5% of online orders | Yes |
| Our Website + Booking System (one-off) | $7,500 + hosting | $7,500 + hosting | Linked to your chosen provider |
| …with an optional maintenance plan (from $500/month) | Only if you want us to make changes for you | ||
Who updates the menu? Depending on what suits you, we either set up an easy way for you to update your menu yourself, or we update it for you as part of a maintenance plan (from $500/month). We agree this in the discovery call.
How to read it: a builder is the cheapest to run if you have the time to build and maintain it. A platform costs more but includes ordering, so compare it with the delivery-app commission it could replace. A custom build costs more upfront but has no monthly platform fee, and the site is yours.
Who owns the website, domain and customer data?
Ownership decides what a website is really worth to you. Before you sign, get written answers to these questions:
- Is the domain registered in the restaurant's name, and can you move it?
- If you stop paying, what happens to the website and its content?
- Can you export your customer list and order history?
- Who owns the design and the code?
With us, you own the website, code, domain and content once the project is paid, and you can host it wherever you choose. We can sign an NDA on request.
Before you sign with anyone, our list of questions to ask a restaurant website designer covers ownership, payments and the restaurant-specific details.
How do prices and taxes differ in the UK, Europe, Canada and Australia?
Most published prices, including the builder prices above, are US prices; they vary by country, so check the local price. Tax is the other difference to watch, because quotes may exclude it:
- UK: the standard VAT rate is 20%.
- EU: each country sets its own VAT rates, and the standard rate must be at least 15%.
- Canada: GST is 5%, and provinces that use HST charge a combined rate (for example 13% in Ontario).
- Australia: GST is 10% on most goods and services.
Ask every supplier whether a quote includes tax. Our quotes and invoices are in USD; the £ and € amounts we show are approximate. Whether tax applies to a cross-border service depends on your country's rules, so check with your accountant. For designer pay and taxes side by side, see our guide to website design cost by country.
How can you tell if your current website needs replacing?
Before you budget for a new website, check what's wrong with the one you have. Some problems, such as a PDF menu, outdated hours or a slow mobile page, can be fixed without a full rebuild. Our free restaurant website grader scores your site out of 100 for mobile speed, Google, menus and bookings, and lists the 3 fixes that matter most. Our guide to the signs your restaurant website needs a redesign helps you decide between a fix and a rebuild.
If you need a new site, write down what it has to do first: bookings, ordering, private events, several locations. That list is what decides which option, and which price, is right. If you run more than one restaurant, our guide to a website for a restaurant with multiple locations covers the extra pages and costs.
